Write for us
Thoughtful Directory welcomes pitches that help readers make thoughtful choices about what they read and how they return to it. Send proposals through the Contact page; we review ideas for fit, clarity and usefulness.
Ideas we want to hear
Pitch a focused, evergreen piece about finding books or essays, building a reading list, keeping a record of ideas, or making room for reading in a particular kind of day. Strong proposals begin with a real reader question and offer a distinct answer. We welcome explainers, comparisons, background pieces, myth-checks and occasion-based guides.
What makes a good pitch
Tell us the proposed title, the central idea, the reader it is for and what the piece would help them understand or do. Explain the angle in a few sentences and note any sources or expertise the subject calls for. Keep the scope manageable: one clear question is stronger than a tour of everything related to reading.
How to send it
Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option to submit your proposal. Please send a pitch rather than a finished article unless we have asked for a draft. Do not include confidential material or assume that sending an idea means it has been accepted. We will consider proposals for their fit with the publication and reply when we can.
Reading is a path, not a pile
A growing stack can be a pleasure, but reading is about the ideas you meet along the way. We help you choose with care and keep what you want to come back to.
